How to Connect Your KuCoin API to Koinly?

Managing your crypto trades and staying on top of tax requirements can feel like a lot, especially if you are using multiple platforms. Thankfully, Koinly makes it easier to track your crypto taxes and manage your portfolio in one place.

With Koinly, you can connect your KuCoin account directly using an API. It automatically syncs your transactions.

Here’s a quick and easy guide to setting up the KuCoin API integration with Koinly, so you can streamline your crypto tracking easily.

Why Connect KuCoin to Koinly?

Connecting KuCoin to Koinly through an API is incredibly helpful for two key reasons:

  1. Automatic Syncing: Koinly automatically pulls in all transactions from KuCoin, so you always have accurate, up-to-date records.

  2. Time-Saving: It saves you from manually inputting each transaction, making tax season and portfolio management far less stressful.

5 Easy Peasy Steps to Connect KuCoin API to Koinly

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide to connecting your KuCoin account to Koinly.

Step 1: Log In to Koinly

  1. Open your browser, go to the Koinly website, and log in to your account.

  2. From the main dashboard, navigate to the Wallets section.

Step 2: Add KuCoin as a Wallet

  1. In the Wallets section, click on Add Wallet/Exchange.

  2. A new window will open with a list of all available wallets and exchanges.

Step 3: Select KuCoin

  1. In the search bar, type KuCoin.

  2. Click on KuCoin API (manual) from the list, then select Setup Auto-Sync to start the integration.

Step 4: Generate API Key in KuCoin

Now that you’ve started the setup in Koinly, you’ll need to generate an API key in your KuCoin account. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your KuCoin account on a browser.

  2. Go to your Account in the top-right corner and select API Management from the dropdown menu.

  3. Choose Create API and select Create API-based trading.

  4. Name your API (e.g., “Koinly Integration”) for easy identification.

  5. In the API passphrase box, create a passphrase. Make sure it’s something you can remember for future use.

  6. Under API restrictions, select General for read-only access. Make sure the boxes for Spot Trading, Margin Trading, Futures Trading, and Transfer are unchecked since Koinly only needs read access.

  7. Set IP Restriction to No to allow Koinly to access the data.

  8. For security verification, you’ll be asked to enter:

    • Your trading password created when you set up KuCoin.

    • A verification code sent via SMS or email.

    • A Google Authenticator code if two-factor authentication is enabled.

After completing these steps, a pop-up will appear with your KuCoin API Key and Secret.

Important: Copy and save your API Key and Secret securely, as you won’t be able to view them again after leaving the page.

Step 5: Enter API Key in Koinly

  1. Return to Koinly, where you left off.

  2. Paste the API Key into the API key field.

  3. Paste the API Secret into the API secret field.

  4. Enter the API passphrase you created earlier in KuCoin.

Conclusion!

Once you’ve completed these steps, Koinly will automatically begin syncing your KuCoin transactions. With this integration, Koinly will pull in both historical and new transactions, keeping your records accurate and updated.

With KuCoin and Koinly now connected, your crypto tax tracking becomes much easier and less time-consuming. If you have questions or need assistance at any step, the Crypto Accountants team is here to help!
